How to crochet
a Single Crochet
Stitch:
First
Row
- For the
first row, count the number of chain stitches to be sure that it is matching
your pattern.
- Crochet one more chain stitch and then
insert your hook into the second chain
stitch.
- Wrap the yarn over
your hook, and grab the yarn. Draw it through the chain stitch.
- Now you
have 2 loops on your crochet
hook.
- Wrap the yarn around
your crochet hook, and hook the yarn. Draw it through the both loops
on your hook.
- One loop should be left on your
crochet hook. This loop is going to be the starting point for your next
stitch.
- You've made the first
single crochet stitch.
- You can
repeat this sequence of steps as needed. Remember, for next single crochet stitch,
insert the hook into the next chain stitch.
Second row and
beyond - First of all, when you've
reached the edge of previous row, crochet one more chain
stitch
- Turn your cloth
inside out (180°).
- Be
sure that the yarn
is placed behind the cloth. The last loop has become the first loop of the
row.
- Insert
your hook into the next stitch in the row. There are a few ways to do
it.
o
You can insert your hook
beneath both loops of the
stitch.
o
You can insert your hook into the back
loop of the stitch.
o
You can insert your hook into the front
loop of the stitch. That's the method shown in this tutorial.
- Wrap the
yarn over your crochet hook, and grab the yarn with the hook. Draw it through
the next stitch.
- Now you have 2 loops on your crochet
hook.
- Wrap the
yarn around your crochet hook, and hook the yarn. Draw it through the both
loops on your hook.
- One loop
should be left on your crochet hook. This loop is going to be the starting
point for your next
stitch.
- You can
repeat this sequence of steps as
needed.
- When you
insert your hook beneath both loops of the
stitch.
- When you insert your hook into the back loop of the
